On February 17, to celebrate the Chinese New Year, the Confucius Institute in Sibiu organized a Gala Dinner at the Împăratul Romanilor Hotel, a themed event brimming with traditional charm. The celebration transformed the city center into a space for intercultural dialogue, bringing together local officials, university leadership representatives, partners from several counties across the country, and members of the Chinese community.
The event was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the enduring friendship between our university and our Chinese partners. The speeches highlighted the success of joint educational projects and the commitment of Romanian partners to continue supporting the study of Chinese language and culture in the region.
The atmosphere was enhanced by exceptional artistic performances, where the sounds of traditional instruments, such as the guzheng and guqin, immediately captivated the guests. Special surprises prepared by the organizers, including symbolic gifts provided by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Romania, added an extra layer of excitement to the evening.
The festive dinner offered guests the perfect opportunity to savor authentic dishes and discuss the shared values that unite the two cultures. The event was not merely a celebration of a millennial tradition, but also a reconfirmation of the bonds of friendship and the international openness that define our university.
